The Goal: Sink the machine's fleet before it sinks yours.
The Twist: Your misses don't stay. Each one fades a little with every shot you take, and after a number of shots it's gone (thirty on level 1, fewer as you go). You have to remember where you've already fired.
- First, place your fleet. A ship is already in your hand: click your sea to drop it, and the next one follows. Turn it with a right click, R, Space or the mouse wheel, or double click a ship. On a phone, tap where it goes, then press Place. Random places the rest for you.
- Ships lie straight, across or down, and never touch each other, not even at the corners.
- Then fire on their sea. Click a square, or on a phone tap it and press Fire. You take turns: you fire, then the machine fires.
- Hits stay on the board. A ship sinks when every square of it is hit, and you're told its name.
- You can fire at a square you've already missed. It still counts as a shot.
- Your own ships are drawn faintly on the same board, with the machine's misses as small faint crosses and its hits as a soft red glow. Hide my ships clears them away.
- Shots are unlimited. First fleet gone loses. Your score is how many shots it took.
- Your game is saved, so you can come back to it.
100 levels: Level 1 is a normal 10 by 10 game. Each level the sea grows (up to 50 by 50), your misses fade faster (from thirty shots down to five), and later on both fleets get extra ships.
Beat the machine to unlock the next level. Lose, and you can try the same level again: it's the same for everyone, every time, so you can learn it.
